Building a Cross-Platform SaaS Community Hub with Live Streaming, Real-Time Chat, and Custom Member Experiences

Built a full-featured community SaaS platform for leaders, creators, and innovators, delivering live streaming, real-time chat, event management, group tools, and Google Maps integration across both web and mobile with Angular and Ionic.

Overview

About the Project

Jedari is a SaaS platform built for communities, leaders, creators, and innovators, providing both web and mobile applications from a single codebase. The platform delivers live streaming for community members, content posting with likes, comments and shares, real-time group and one-to-one chat, event management, group creation, and Google Maps integration showing community members as interactive pins. Jedari also supports customised menus per community, including a music experience on par with dedicated music apps. Our team has been the core engineering partner for 3 years, including major framework upgrades and complex third-party integrations.

  • Live streaming for community-specific audiences powered by 100ms integration
  • Full content platform with posting, likes, comments, and share functionality
  • Real-time chat supporting both group channels and one-to-one conversations
  • Event management for groups and individuals within the community
  • Google Maps integration displaying community members as interactive pins for local engagement
  • Custom menu system enabling per-community feature sets, including a full music experience
  • Angular v17 to v21 and Ionic v5 to v8 upgrades completed without feature regression
  • Universal link support added to the Ionic mobile app for deep linking
The Problem

Challenges We Solved

01

Complex Live Streaming Integration

Integrating the 100ms third-party streaming platform into a community context required custom session management, community-scoped audience controls, and handling edge cases around concurrent streams across multiple communities simultaneously.

02

Multi-Community Mobile Deployment

Each community required a separately branded and configured mobile build for both Android and iOS. Managing the deployment pipeline across different community configurations without a full rebuild for each was a significant operational challenge.

03

Major Framework Version Gaps

The Angular codebase needed to jump from v17 to v21 and Ionic from v5 to v8, both involving breaking changes, deprecated APIs, and component-level rewrites that had to be completed without disrupting active users on the live platform.

04

Cross-Platform Feature Parity

Delivering the same feature set, including live streaming, real-time chat, maps, and custom menus, across both web and mobile platforms while maintaining consistent performance and user experience required careful architecture across the Angular and Ionic layers.

Our Process

How We Delivered

01

SaaS Platform Architecture

Designed a multi-tenant SaaS foundation on Laravel with Angular for web and Ionic for mobile, enabling per-community configuration, custom menus, and isolated data without requiring separate deployments per community.

02

Live Streaming with 100ms

Integrated 100ms as the streaming backbone, building community-scoped session management, host and viewer controls, and a reliable stream lifecycle that handles connection drops and concurrent sessions gracefully.

03

Community Features: Content, Chat, Events, Groups

Built the full community feature layer including content posting with social interactions, real-time group and direct messaging, event creation and RSVP management, group tools, and Google Maps showing member locations as interactive pins.

04

Mobile App and Cross-Platform Deployment

Developed the Ionic mobile app for both iOS and Android, implementing universal links for deep navigation, managing multi-community build configurations, and maintaining feature parity with the Angular web platform.

05

Framework Upgrades: Angular v17 to v21, Ionic v5 to v8

Executed both major framework upgrades in parallel, migrating breaking changes, updating deprecated components, refactoring module patterns, and validating the full feature set after each upgrade to ensure zero regressions on the live product.
